The Market Intelligence Analyst will join the OptumHealth Strategic Initiatives team, reporting directly to the Associate Director, OptumHealth and will support the team in a variety of activities, including the strategic planning process for cross-functional strategic projects, developing new and actionable insights into industry / competitive dynamics, and preparing reports, presentations and other project deliverables for both internal and external use.
A key responsibility of the Market Intelligence Analyst will be the development and maintenance of a local market data repository that consolidates data and information from external and internal sources, including UnitedHealthcare, Optum and the various business units within OptumHealth. The Market Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for determining the best platform to leverage, establishing the data environment, querying and refreshing the data on a regular basis. The Market Intelligence Analyst will also be responsible for developing and maintaining local market profiles for every major market in the United States. A key indicator of success for this role will include data integrity, data repository simplicity and functionality, process adoption, stakeholder buy in, and data visualization.

Support business planning and market strategy efforts for OptumHealth across all lines of business and functional areas
Assist in creation of frameworks and analysis to support strategic decisions
Conduct research and analysis on topics such as new market opportunities, strategic initiatives, business case development, competitive landscape, and cross-business segment opportunities
Create presentations and materials for use both internally and externally
Partner with strategy team to drive innovation and diversification agendas
Continuously monitor and evaluate UnitedHealthcare goals and identify opportunities for improvement
Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or a related field (or 4+ years of related experience in lieu of degree)
3 years of experience conducting market research and competitive analysis with strong analytical abilities and knowledge of health care industry and products
2+ years of experience in gathering information and making data-driven analytical decisions
2+ years of experiences of Competitive Intelligence related areas
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance multiple priorities and projects
Intermediate level of proficiency with Excel, including indexing, v look ups, and complex formulas
Intermediate level of proficiency with PowerPoint, being able to work with both data and text to present information
Experience working in the health care industry
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Experience performing research and development projects with responsibility for collecting and interpreting research and analyses of markets, trends, competitors, products and services for use in operational business planning / decisions and strategic planning / decisions
