Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health is seeking a dynamic and energetic RN or LPN PRN INTAKE COUNSELOR

Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health offers a 108 Bed Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital for Acute Psychiatric and Substance Use Disorders. We offer both inpatient and outpatient services. Services are offered for adolescents, adults and seniors.

PRN RN or LPN Intake Counselor, Day & Evening Shifts

Key Responsibilities include :

This position is responsible for coordinating admissions for inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and A&D services for approximately two shifts per week.  The Intake Counselor will interact with numerous customers to include members of the community, patients, family members and staff to efficiently and professionally coordinate admissions. 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Screen referrals for medical exclusionary criteria in a prompt fashion

  • Maintain a professional working relationship with referral sources

  • Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries regarding admissions to the hospital

  • Manage occupancy levels and coordinate the date and time of admissions

  • Work with members of the multidisciplinary team communicating information needed to maximize good customer service

  • Coordinate the admissions process including insurance pre-authorization for admission.

  • Schedule and facilitate assessments in the lobby

  • Complete the admission assessment and packet as well as precertification with the payer.

  • Maintain screening and waiting lists

  • Maintain an up-to-date database of medical professionals, mental health contacts, referral sources and community resources

  • Maintain patient confidentiality pursuant to Federal, State and HIPAA regulations.
