JOB SUMMARY Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair and documentation of patient/non-patient mechanical equipment (excluding bio-med. equip.) throughout the Hospital to insure safe, efficient and proper functioning of mechanical systems and equipment. Responds to Hospital emergencies as necessary and may be required to provide unrestricted on call coverage as emergency situations dictate.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Technical school graduate in a mechanical discipline or high school graduate with equivalent technical experience and strong mechanical aptitude.
Experience: Two (2) to four (4) years mechanical maintenance experience.
License and Certification: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Education: Technical or high school graduate with specialized training in a mechanical/electrical discipline such as hydraulics, welding, electric/electronic controls or similar field.
Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years experience, two of which are in the healthcare field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use). Strong working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, hydraulics/pneumatics, motor/drive systems and welding. Strong diagnostic capabilities required with ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and specifications. Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Works efficiently and organizes time appropriately. Proficient in computers to enter/retrieve data and to operate specialized systems in the facility.
PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING Work is performed in accordance with instructions and procedures, but incumbents must organize the work and set priorities. Requires the ability to recognize problem situations and refer them to the appropriate staff member.
