Position: Strategic Development Analyst

Location: Dover, DE

 

Responsible for exhibiting Chesapeake Utilities Corporation’s Mission, Vision and Values, regarding external customers, agencies, vendors, internal departments and co-workers. The Strategic Development Analyst (“SDA”) is a dynamic position responsible for providing business development, strategic planning, and due diligence support to the Strategic Development Group. In particular, the SDA will be responsible for analytic support, business case development, and various ad hoc projects.

This position will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Business Development
  • Develop and maintain project economic and technical models to support acquisition and development opportunities
  • Research, analyze, and monitor markets, industry demographics and competitive factors to identify business development opportunities
  • Document acquisition and development opportunity business cases for communication to senior management
  • Provide support as needed to CUC business unit business development efforts

  • Strategic Planning
  • Responsibilities for supporting strategic planning efforts include:
  • Actively participating in the forum for strategy development
  • Vetting business and forecast models using various tools
  • Drafting strategic plan presentation for senior management and the board
  •  
  • Due Diligence for Capital Investment Projects
  • Responsibilities for supporting due diligence efforts include:
  • Developing and maintaining detailed project economic and technical models
  • Reviewing due diligence documents associated with the project
  • Support communications efforts between the project team and senior management

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience
  • Strong ability is required in communicating, both orally and in writing.
  • A high level of visual acuity is needed to work with numbers.
  • Working knowledge of the natural gas industry and the mechanics of gas movement on pipelines.
  • General understanding of state and federal regulatory procedures and requirements, purchasing procedures, and customer relations.
  • Normal hearing ability is required in order to transmit information orally and to receive instructions and information.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills required to handle several projects at one time.
  • A high level of mental activity is needed in order to analyze data and make judgments. A strong ability with math is necessary to ensure accuracy of data.
  • Must be proficient in the use of standard business software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Windows).
