We have an opportunity in our Plainwell, MI office for a Civil Estimator with our Construction team, who aspires to become an active employee in a vibrant, well-established company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Perform construction estimating and costing of all plans
  • Review project plans, specification and requirements and incorporate into estimate
  • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and unit pricing
  • Establish and monitor budgets for all construction phases
  • Identify cost-saving techniques, materials, and procedures
  • Monitor and communicate any cost impact of increases and quantity changes
  • Perform cost comparison and analysis as requested
  • Assemble complete and detailed estimating packages
  • Prepare conceptual estimates and interpret outline specifications
  • Coordinate, review, and analyze general contractor and subcontractor bids
  • Skills, Competencies, Qualifications: 

  • 15+ years of construction experience with at least 5 years in estimating
  • Degree in Engineering with an emphasis Civil, Mechanical, or Construction Management preferred.
  • Preferred exposure to multiple facets of Engineering
  • Knowledge of lump sum, unit price, construction management and conceptual estimating projects
  • Familiar with computerized estimating and management softwares/systems
  • Exposure to Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.), AutoCAD, Trimble, HCSS, understanding of CPM scheduling
  • Knowledge of construction, with ability to read plans and specifications
  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic; good interpersonal skills; demonstrate good organization, verbal and written communication skills; excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently but also be part of team pulling complex technical project estimates together
  • Must be willing to relocate to the greater Plainwell, MI area
