Position Description



Position Purpose

  • Support the execution of the Zero Harm strategy throughout the CHEP USA self-managed plant operations network.   The Coordinator will support the HSE team in the execution of strategies to ensure ongoing compliance to regulatory requirements, deployment of best practices, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Travel to multiple facilities on a weekly basis.
  • Conduct on-site safety analysis and training including:
  • Incident Investigation Guidance and Training
  • Safety & First Aid Committee Development and Support
  • Job Safety Assessments and Risk Assessments
  • GAP Systems Assessments and Development
  • Compliance Assessments (company policy, OSHA, DOT, environmental)
  • Best Practice Implementation
  • Pedestrian Segregation Facilitation
  • Train the Trainer – multiple topics
  • Behavioral Based Safety Programs
  • Environmental Regulatory Compliance
  • Prepare reports and presentation regarding Safety programs
  • Keep plant managers and corporate managers apprised of issues surrounding Workers Comp, DOT, OSHA, and Safety
  • Provide recommendations for improving plant and corporate safety and training programs
  • Maintain Safety Records
  • Effective communication with operational employees, supervisors, local management, upper management and peers.

  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Safety or Environmental Safety) or equivalent work experience is required
  • Manufacturing / Operations Background
  • Experience

  • Previous manufacturing / operations supervisory experience
  • Previous safety education or experience
  • Good working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and Workers Compensation
  • Basic knowledge of environmental regulations; knowledge of local air and stormwater regulations is preferred as well as managing hazardous and regulated wastes
  • Ability to build good relationships with plant level and corporate personnel
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook,
  • and Internet).
  • Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work both within a team environment and independently to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to maintain demanding timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks.
  • Bi-Lingual (English – Spanish) preferred but not required.
