Job Description Orbital ATK is currently seeking a Director of Mission Assurance, Safety & Security for our Missile Defense & Controls business unit. This position will report to the Vice President and Site Manager, and will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Orbital ATK Missile Defense & Controls business unit, located in Elkton, MD, provides high performance upper stages for missile defense and space applications.Primary Job responsibilities are:Lead the day-to-day execution of the Mission Assurance, Safety/Environmental & Security organization that supports operations for all MD&C sites.Job Duties:• Accountable for and leads, through direct and matrixed reporting relationships, multiple organizations focused on safety, the delivery of quality hardware and products for a variety of government and commercial customers; including quality assurance, environmental services, audit, fire protection, industrial health and safety, laboratory testing, NDT, industrial security, and inspection. Responsible for plant security, DOD operations and Special Program activities.• Develops, communicates and implements vision, strategy, goals and metrics that align with and drive business objectives for safety, cost, quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.• Ensures Customer satisfaction through the planning, implementation, and control of internal and external customer requirements. • Management representative for the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with AS9100 D with responsibility to lead the planning, implementation, and control of an effective QMS. • Accountable for the planning, implementation, and control of safety, security, health, and environmental processes. • Accountable for the planning, implementation, and control of regulatory and statutory requirements.• Plans, implements, and controls the quality requirements flow down to suppliers and verification of compliance to purchase requirements. • Drives supplier improvement through teaming activities with the Integrated Supply Chain Management (ISCM) organization. • Utilizes effective talent management strategies to attract, retain, develop and engage the right people for the organization.• Responsible for establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with work teams, customers, program management, and other support organizations within Defense Systems Group and Orbital ATK.• Develops, fosters, and enhances a strong working relationship with Customers and Government agencies (MDA, DCMA).• Provide proactive security solutions to MD&C leadership and program management.• Responsible for the oversight and administration of Security policies & procedures.• Must be able to perform multiple complex tasks, establishing priorities while meeting all commitments and compliance requirements.• Participate on Senior Leadership Team and support ongoing commitment to Safety, Quality and On-time Delivery.• Experience Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. An advanced degree in engineering or business is preferred.• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in safety, quality, supply chain, program management, technical management and/or manufacturing.• Progressive experience leading and developing staff, with Sr. Manager/Director level experience preferred.• Strong knowledge in the implementation and sustainment of an AS9100 QMS.• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance to a level of secret.• Position requires some travel.Preferred Skills & Qualifications:• Previous responsibility leading the day-to-day activities in propulsion processing and operating areas.• Demonstrated ability to lead a large and diverse group, establish clear expectations and inspire commitment, building teams, value diversity and put people first.• Ability to further continuous yet controlled improvements in organizations and processes and strengthening of workforce skills through application of lean thinking principles and tools.• Ability to formulate and execute complex project plans and initiatives.• Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation and critical thinking skills.• Demonstrated business acumen.• Clearly demonstrated commitment to open communication and customer satisfaction.• Experience working with Government agencies.Orbital ATK is applying entrepreneurial thinking and commercial practices to deliver reliable, innovative and affordable products and services to our customers and grow our core areas while harnessing new technologies that will take our products, and your ideas, into the future.
