Job Description

The position is responsible for overseeing the planning, supervision and execution of Cracker Barrel’s facility maintenance expense, maintenance capital, and preventative maintenance programs as well as the home office maintenance program.

This includes the directing of the Facility Service Department to ensure it has appropriate and fully functioning resources, personnel, and vendors to achieve company facility maintenance expense and capital objectives.  Measures the effectiveness of maintenance programs.  Ensures communication procedures facilitate the timely and efficient flow of information with key stakeholders.

Responsibility

Directs the planning and execution of Facilities/Maintenance Programs.

Develops plans, processes and procedures for the execution of the maintenance expense, maintenance capital, and preventative maintenance programs for all Cracker Barrel store locations and Home Office facilities. Monitors and measures each area to determine if goals are being achieved and appropriate benchmarks are being set. Evaluates existing processes, procedures, and programs to streamline and gain efficiencies. Ensures alignment is achieved and maintained with key Stakeholders.  Enhances execution, effectiveness, and consistency of the programs under the positions of direct responsibility. This includes overseeing the annual unit assessments program, service level agreements, work order management, vendor management, contract management, asset management, quality assurance, and the budgeting and G&A process.

Ensures communication procedures facilitate the timely flow of information with key constituencies.

Develops and maintains positive communication and working relationships with Operations, Strategic Sourcing, Innovation, Construction, and other Home Office departments. Collaborates with each to streamline processes and increase efficiency and productivity. Fosters an environment of open communication.

Measures maintenance programs to assess effectiveness.

Establishes analytical reporting systems to measure and monitor current performance against stated company/department goals and objectives. Provides aggregate reporting to monitor spend trends; outliers; and performance of company R&M/capital/ preventative maintenance/ and initiatives and programs. This includes Monthly reviews of performance with RVPs and key stakeholders.

Selects qualified vendors and manages relationships to ensure compliance with company specifications. 

Ensures that all vendors performing service and project work (in areas of capital and preventative maintenance programs) are qualified and have appropriate

Job Requirements. Contracts with a sufficient number of vendors to perform the needed work without delays. Develops performance measurements to qualify vendor performance and ensure that vendors are providing quality work for the agreed upon pricing.

Directs Facilities Services and Home Office Maintenance Staff.

Selects, coaches, develops, and motivates a facilities team to achieve department goals and company objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelors’ degree required.  Preferred degree in business, construction, or engineering.  

8-10 years of progressive facility experience (or equivalent experience).

5-7 years of facility related leadership experience.

Working knowledge of construction, facilities, design and Operations

Experience in managing contractors and sub-contractors

Excellent time management skills

Strong analytical and decision making skills

Thorough understanding of construction means and methods

Thorough understanding of maintenance procedures and techniques
