Job Description

We are looking for a Mechanical Field Engineer to support outages at a mill in Columbus, MS.

Specifically we are looking for someone with field experience, used to working in industrial settings, performing walk-downs, with a strong background with pipes and tanks being constructed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day support to construction team to ensure prompt, precise resolution of construction deficiencies observed in the field.
  • Create work packages for the installation of mechanical equipment
  • Support employees in the installation and inspection of piping, equipment, and components using approved construction procedures and specifications
  • Solves complex installation issues by collaborating with numerous construction support groups
  • Reviews work packages for content and scope, resolving issues through coordination with work planners, Field Change Requests (FCR), and Field Change Notices (FCN)
  • Plans and prepares work scope instructions packages for fabrication and installation of piping, tubing, and mechanical equipment for various mechanical systems
  • Resolves constructability issues, material ordering, design change propositions, design change evaluations, inspections
  • Performs field walk downs/inspections to review the work for conformance with the design drawings, specifications, applicable codes/standards, and company policies/procedures
  • Red-line drawings to show as-build conditions
  • Prepare/answer Request for Information, Field Change Requests, and Field Work Order Requests
  • Qualifications:

  • Must have 10+ years of relevant industrial experience to be considered.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Employee must be capable of climbing ladders, scaffolding and wearing fall protection.
  • Position is scheduled to start in January and work through March, possibly longer.
