Senior Buyer

Direct Hire

Location: Saint Louis, MO 63123

POSITION SUMMARY: Perform duties required to provide strategic sourcing and demand management principles and practices for a wide variety of technical and non-technical materials and services required to support customer requirements.



  1. Initiate improvement tactics for supplier OTD, past due and lead times based on credible information and performance trends, including alternative supply options.

  2. Create a partnership relationship with assigned suppliers with open and frequent communications.

  3. Establish points-of-contact network for feedback and communications loop between operations and purchasing groups to understand needs of the business and relative impact on suppliers.

  4. Assure accurate and timely purchase orders, adjust per needs of the business and deliver clear communications to those suppliers impacted.

  5. Update associates on supplier performance against specific needs and follow up on expedites and current schedules for positive impact to customer service.

  6. Develop and negotiate supplier contracts and agreements. Provide demand forecasting, expediting orders and initiating supplier performance corrective actions.

  7. As purchasing subject matter expert, ensure system performance and capability is improved and maintained without denigration to maximize benefits of the available functionality.  Provide input to cross-functional system developments and enhancements.

  8. Make a contribution to the development of Lean within company and its business partners.

  9. Ensure critical aspects such as tooling and pattern management supports operations and business growth.

  10. Submit and analyze quotations for new and non-standard items.

  11. Provide direction and back-up coverage within team as needed.

  12. Develop reports within, and on behalf of, Purchasing group. 


Education: Requires an associate degree in business-related filed or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Experience: Over five and up to seven years to obtain sufficient background to perform duties of the position.
