Job Description

The primary function of a Project Engineer is to perform and implement robotic off-line programming in CAD environment followed by execution of online programming including process development (GMAW, GTAW, cutting, grinding, etc…). The role also involves hands-on verification and troubleshooting of the robotic equipment to ensure quality and project deliverables are in compliance with specifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Execution of off-line programming in a CAD based environment for multiple applications in varying industries.
  • Implementation of online programming including process development of various processes (GMAW, GTAW, cutting, grinding, etc…).
  • Carrying-out of front end robotic feasibility reach reviews and/or process development to ensure ultimate success of the robotic application.
  • Hands-on verification and troubleshooting of the robotic equipment to ensure quality and project deliverables are in compliance with specifications.
  • Provide backup support for technical project related tasks for project manager and service departments.
  • Occasional installation of robotic system at customer facility.
  • Teaching of customer and internal training classes as assigned.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Requirements:

  • Demonstrate the ability to program welding robots for arc welding applications.
  • Experience working with solid modeling (CAD) programs.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in higher level functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Excellent organizational skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
  • Possess and apply strong problem solving skills with an analytical approach and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently independently, cross functionally, or part of a team.
  • Possess and apply a broad knowledge of engineering and scientific principles, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively work with shop floor employees including a flexibility to adjust work schedule if required.
  • Able to make good fact based decisions.
  • Preferred Certifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Welding Engineering or equivalent
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Certified Robotic Arc Welding Technician (CRAW-T)
  • 1 year or more experience in robotic industry and/or welding
  • Physical Demands:

    Traveling is required to visit customer locations throughout the world in order to meet the needs of customers and other external contacts. Work is a mix of sedentary when driving and in the office. Work within a customer’s facility may be a mix of standing, bending, squatting, lifting, and walking and some long periods of sitting. This individual must be able to occasionally lift 70 pounds and frequently lift 25 pounds. This position requires manual dexterity and visual acuity to utilize equipment and tools. Hours may be irregular.

    Work Environment:

    The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the country including Mexico and Canada up to 40%.
