Job Description Grade:

It is the primary responsibility of the Runner to mark silverware as well as serve and clear food with the Server and Bus Person to promote good guest relations for Todd English Pub and Park District Holdings, LLC.  The Runner is also responsible for communicating with the Servers and Bus Persons, as well as between the dining room and kitchen staff. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices and procedures.

  • Ensures a high level of guest satisfaction by providing service that is consistent with the company’s core service standards and the overall brand attributes.
  • Maintains basic knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in Todd English Pub.
  • Ability to work cohesively with other employees to provide guests with a superior level of service and uncompromising guest experience. 
  • Remains familiar with all Park services, features and local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Converse with guests inquiring about their satisfaction with the restaurant.
  • Consistently follows sequence of service utilizing all proper procedures standardized by the room management.
  • Maintains tables neat and orderly by removing dishware no longer in use.
  • Assists in bussing of tables, and cleaning table for next seating.
  • Transports dishes and glassware from tables to kitchen and bar as needed.
  • Anticipates guest needs, when possible, and provides extra items and condiments to the table.
  • Attends and actively participates in daily team updates and scheduled training sessions and retains knowledge covered therein.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of all public areas.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of all storage areas. 
  • Communicates with managers, co-workers and guests in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees.
  • Performs all other job related duties as requested.
  • Required: 

  • Ability to take initiative and exhibit flexibility.
  • A highly motivated and energetic personality.
  • Basic working knowledge of wines and beers.
  • Excellent knowledge of spirits.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Worked varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
  • Preferred:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a bar or similar environment.
  • Bilingual.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
