Job Description Grade:

It is the primary responsibility of the Hostperson to greet and seat guests, check side work, answer telephones and direct Buspersons, Servers and Cashiers.  All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Property policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Engage, entertain and inspire all who visit the Property by making a focused commitment to our guests and ensure they receive our SHOW/Five Diamond Resort standard of service.
  • Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner and make them feel welcome.
  • Oversee daily restaurant reservations, pre-assigning seating where necessary.
  • Communicate with Restaurant Reservations Dept. regarding special orders, cake orders, special requests – responsible for conveying all such information to management.
  • Bid farewell to guests, using their name when known and encourage them to return.
  • Maintain general tidiness of the podium area where necessary.
  • Answer the telephone and direct calls where necessary.
  • Shut down the podium and forward phones to voice-loop at the end of the shift.
  • Anticipate the guests’ needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.
  • Work as a team, assisting with all guests’ and employees’ needs and inquiries.
  • Effectively communicate with Management, Chefs and Culinary Staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees.
  • Assist Management with approvals on RFB checks.
  • Perform all other job related duties as requested.
  • Required: 

  • At least 2 years of previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
  • At least 1 year of previous Food and Beverage experience in a fast-paced environment with food service experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
  • Preferred:

  • At least 2 years of previous Food and Beverage experience in a high-paced environment with serving experience and food service experience.
