The Senior data scientist will lead the innovation in Machine Learning-based tools or processes within the company, such as recommendation engines or automated lead scoring systems. As a member of the A&I team, you will be tasked with weaving structured and unstructured data together from across BI to help answer some of our biggest questions. The incumbent will have a broad understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, a deep familiarity with industry data sources, machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing and advanced analytics. Creates statistical models and is hands on with technology such as SAS, R, Python or similar tools. This role will be involved in the development of regression, classification, and clustering models based on customer level data along with knowledge of Bayesian statistics and their implementation.

 

This role will have experience with hypothesis or idea generation and prioritization, exploratory analysis using iterative modeling and tuning, and production integration and delivery of results to ensure adoption. The incumbent will have working knowledge of big data (parallel/MapReduce algorithm) and is responsible for creating advanced analytical models that will lead to actionable insights.

Duties & Responsibilities\:

  • Deliver high quality data science project work by using methods such as deep learning, machine learning, advanced analytics and natural language processing to solve business needs.  Identify appropriate methodology, data sets and advanced analytical tools.

  • Ability to connect and explain data science technical aspects with business customers. Strong analytical skills for effective problem solving.

  • Responsibility for building computational models, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical and algorithmic methods as well as data visualization techniques.

  • Architecture and applications on or incorporating innovative data analytic technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, R, and other open source and proprietary data analytics platforms and tools

  • Data Scientists work closely with key business partners to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make smart business decisions.

  • Architecture and applications on or incorporating cloud infrastructure-, platform-, and/or software as a service (particularly data analytic solutions on Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or other cloud platforms and service providers)

  • Requirements\:

  • Masters’ degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience. PHD in related field highly preferred. If PHD, 5 years of experience is required

  • 7+ years of experience manipulating (large) datasets and using database

  • 5+ years’ experience with a general-purpose programming language (such as R, Python, Hadoop MapReduce or other big data frameworks, Java).

  • Passion for science and scientific problem-solving paired with a strong appetite for solving challenging business questions

  • Demonstrated strong business, analytical and technical expertise.

  • Strong track record of successful data science projects

  • Experience in the use of statistical packages and machine learning libraries

  • Demonstrable ability to quickly understand new analytical and mathematical concepts and to come out with original solutions to mathematical issues.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and communications skills to report back the findings in a clear, structured manner are required. Strong Storytelling skills.

  • Business competencies\: Change management, conceptual thinking, innovation, problem solving, and team work, pro-activity.

  • Experience with multiple NoSQL data stores, Including MongoDB, Neo4J, RedShift and Cassandra. Knowledge of Bayesian statistics and their implementation. Working knowledge of frameworks such as R Shiny and Django.

  • Understanding of WebServices as well as JSON and XML formats
