Job Description

HollyFrontier in Cheyenne, WY is seeking an HR Generalist.  This role conducts conducts basic to moderately complex level human resources related duties and assignments for the Human Resources Department under general supervision.  May direct or lead the work of others from time-to-time..

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:  (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

  • Carries out the Company’s policies and procedures, understands and follows state and federal laws pertaining to Human Resources (HR) and creates all needed reports, spreadsheets and letters
  • Works with managers, as well as internal and external compensation resources on new job/position development
  • Supports employees throughout relocation process, as needed, and liaises with relocation vendor to ensure a successful transition in accordance with Company guidelines
  • Conducts and carries out recruiting process (i.e., initial screening, interview scheduling, offer letters) and solicits third party recruiting firms as needed for assigned subisidary(s)
  • Sources both active and passive job seekers via internet, referrals, job fairs, cold calls, and other recruitment means for assigned subisidary(s)
  • Prepares job requisitions for all positions to start job recruitment process
  • Provides and prepares recruitment and applicant tracking reports for all company wide recruiting activities for Affirmative Action Plan development and all assigned subsidiary’s recruiting activities for management
  • Prepares Affirmative Action files and other related data for assigned subsidiary(s) for corporate reporting purposes
  • Supports assigned subsidiary(s) employees, including responding to all employee inquiries (i.e. union, non-union) for benefits, retirement, performance, attendance, policy, procedures, employee relations issues/concerns, etc.
  • Updates all applicable HR files maintaining confidentiality, including collecting and filing Protected Health Information (PHI) paperwork
  • Participates in the coordination of onsite development training, compliance training, and HR related events for assigned subsidiary(s)
  • Coordinates and facilitates local orientation, enrollment and informational meetings for employees; and maintains and distributes benefit publications and materials
  • Coordinates all pre-employment screenings for new hires for assigned subsidiary(s)
  • Assists new hires with all paperwork and onboarding process for assigned subsidiary(s) and provides guidance and assistance
  • Conducts exit interviews for voluntary terminations for assigned subsidiary(s)
  • Depending on assigned area, participates in local Workman Committee Meetings as needed
  • Inputs new hire, terminations, and other employee change data in HRIS, payroll system, helpdesk system and other local systems if applicable
  • Prepares monthly reports for management and departments upon request and as assigned
  • May perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Assists in the development of Company policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Maintains, administers, and coordinates various Company programs and processes (e.g. Scholarship Program, Relocation Program)
  • Analyzes time entries in the time and attendance system
  • Codes invoices as needed
  • Assists with special projects including required compliance reporting (e.g. EEO-1 and VETS 100A),  various surveys, benefits transitions, benefits audits and various union issues
  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

    Experience:

    A minimum of two years of directly related Human Resource experience required.  Level will be determined based on candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities.

    EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

    A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Relations, Psychology, Business or related work experience in lieu of the degree (four years of related work experience) is required. 

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    Working knowledge of general human resources principles and ability to apply this knowledge as it pertains to the company. Special training in Human Resources basics. Intermediate skill level in Excel, Word, and Outlook.  Hands on experience using v-lookup and pivot tables in MS Excel.  Ability to work with all levels of employees. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both written and verbal communication, and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Intermediate reading and writing skills. Job search engine knowledge. Ability to handle confidential information including Protected Health Information (PHI) and all applicable compliance issues in relation to relevant HIPAA regulations. Basic planning, organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills; tact and maturity.  Excellent computer skills required.

    PRFERRED SKILLS:

    SAP HCM experience specifically in Personnel Administration, HR Certification and ADP Easy Labor experience is preferred.

    SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    None.

    WORK CONDITIONS:

    Office based with up to 10% travel required by land or air.  Subject to varying road and weather conditions.

    Depending on assigned location, requires frequent visits in petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, and out-of-doors.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 20lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 10lbs, perceiving color differences, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential (inability to maintain standard insurance rates is grounds for dismissal), valid State driver’s license and proof of insurance required, and depending on assigned location the ability to wear personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
