Job Description MaterialsTechnologist

What you will do

-Address materials and process concerns from suppliers andmanufacturing.

-Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results inorder to determine root causes of problems to develop solutions.

-Conduct failure analysis and create technical reports.

-Conduct or supervise tests on raw materials or finishedproducts in order to ensure their composition, physical properties, andquality.

-Execute, analyze, and oversee chemical, mechanical andmetallurgical testing activities.

-Modify properties of metal alloys, using thermal andmechanical treatments.

-Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratorysupplies.

-Perform and direct materials accelerated life testing tovarious industry standards.

-Plan and carry out research projects, such as thedevelopment of new products and testing methods.

-Prepare solutions, compounds, and reagents used inlaboratory procedures.

-Review new product plans and make recommendations formaterial selection based on design objectives.

-Individual will also be responsible for maintainingchemical safety in the facility. Organize and store all chemical substances and fluids according tosafety instructions, write Job Safety Analyses, ensure all safety guidelinesare followed strictly and maintain a clean and orderly environment.

Job RequirementsWhat we look for

-Four-year degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering,or Material Science

 -A minimum of 10years related lab and testing experience. Chemists with a strong background in Materials may also be considered.

-Familiarity with the manufacture and applications ofrubbers/elastomers especially EPDM and nitrile.

-Familiarity with copper alloys, casting alloys such asductile iron, CF-8M, dezincification.

-Must have strong communication skills and be able to presentresearch findings to engineers and other colleagues.

-Strong background in chemistry including, FTIR and chemicalcompatibility between rubbers and fluids/lubricants.
