Job Description

Technical Support Engineer Needed in Research Triangle Park, NC; 12+ month contract with a Fortune 500 Technology Company.  Candidates should have at least CCNA Knowledge with Cisco Routers and Switches, along with 3+ years in a Technical Support Role.  Below are additional details.For immediate consideration: Send an updated resume to [Click Here to Email Your Resumé].  Please include the job title, location of the position and desired hourly rate on a W2 basis in the email.Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Providing technical support regarding the company's proprietary systems and software, including training creation of intellectual property materials as required. 
  • Assisting customers in troubleshooting hardware/software related issues on various platforms. 
  • Providing top level technical support for router and switch architecture (both hardware and software) to the client's customers, partners, account teams, and other engineers via phone/email/Jabber consultation to independently troubleshoot & debug product problems. 
  • Applying analytical skills and technical knowledge to solve product and network problems of moderate to high complexity. 
  • Effectively utilizing moderate to complex lab setups to recreate and solve problems. 
  • Submitting complete and correct Defect reports in area of expertise. 
  • Acting as a technical expert and providing support on a world-wide basis. 
  • Working with minimal supervision and no instruction on routine work and general instruction on new assignments 
  • Receives minimal supervision and receives no instruction on routine work and general instruction on new assignments. 
  • Interacting internally with CSEs, SEs, NCEs, and internal engineering departments. 
  • Minimum Qualifications 

  • Typically requires BSCS or BSEE or equivalent plus 1 to 2 years of related work experience 
  • General knowledge of the networking industry, Cisco products, and protocols 
  • Proven technical expertise and extensive customer service/support experience, including crisis management skills and ability to handle critical customer issues/problems 
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including strong negotiating and influencing skills 
  • Ability to work effectively with and provide guidance to other members of the work group. 
  • CCNA level networking knowledge 
  • Desired Skills 

  • CCIE level networking knowledge 
  • Proficient in one or more Programming languages (C+ C++, Java, Python)
