Job Description Responsibilities:

  • Plans, schedules, designs/ enhances, and coordinates engineering work to existing materials handling equipment to meet customer requirements; may work on phases of a larger project or an entire smaller project
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements and specifications
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
  • Creates required elevation and/or section view drawings
  • Develops conveyor listings, calculate conveyor load points, and horsepower;
  • Creates approval, permit, installation and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD
  • Obtains material and product quotes from vendors and issues purchase orders and bills of materials
  • Works with evolving client requirements, which may require new designs and developments
  • Monitors the project schedule, engineering time, and material costs
  • Works with other disciplines on the project team to make sure the engineered solution and all equipment fit within system confines and constraints
  • Travels to job sites 25% if time


  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Architectural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Previous material handling or construction experience or previous structural steel detailing experience a plus
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced results-oriented environment
  • Ability to learn the material handling business and assist across teams and divisions
  • Ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, vendors, consulting engineers, architects, and installers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
