Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Position is on the staff of a not-for-profit government consulting firm located in Tysons, VA. The maintenance and readiness data analyst will serve as a team member on one or more tasks and will be expected to perform independent analysis when appropriate.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct analyses of data on a variety of topics related to maintenance/logistics management for equipment, systems and sub-systems (e.g., cost and availability studies of aircraft, vehicle, and ship fleets) as well as industrial operations (e.g., maintenance organization, production, resources, reliability, programming, and financial management). 
  • Use spreadsheets and database tools (such as SQL or Vertica) to carry out analyses.
  • Assist in the development of analytical and simulation models of supply and logistics operations.
  • Plan and execute research project plans.
  • Communicate the results of studies and analyses to clients through written reports and oral presentations.
  • Attend client-sponsored forums and conferences; attend/participate in technical tracks related to maintenance/logistics management of equipment and infrastructure.
  • Lead projects up to $1 million in value.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, statistics, systems engineering, industrial engineering, or other related business or quantitative discipline required.
  • Experience using spreadsheets and databases (e.g., Microsoft Excel and Access) required. 
  • Project management experience as a project leader required.
  • PmP certification or actively working towards certification required..
  • 5-7 years of relevant work is required.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL server or Vertica required.
  • Experience with VBA is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Department of Defense or U.S. Military Service structure, management, and operations desirable but not required.  Experience in weapon systems maintenance, logistics operations, or supply chain or inventory management highly desirable.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, systems engineering, industrial engineering, or other related business or quantitative discipline desirable.

  • Available for occasional travel.
