Job Description

STV's Transportation and Infrastructure Groups in Newark and Trenton, NJ are seeking Construction Management professionals: Resident Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, and Construction Inspectors with highway, bridge and rail construction and rehabilitation experience on projects for NJ Transit, NJDOT, NJ Turnpike, and PANJNY are highly preferred.

Required Skills & Relevant Experience:

  • Resident Engineers: 8 - 12+ years of experience with New Jersey PE or NICET Certification
  • Construction Inspectors / Office Engineers: 3 - 7+ years of experience with NICET II - IV
  • Experienced with CapEx, MURK, Site Manager, Excel, or other document control software
  • Have combination of NJSAT, ACI, ACI CCTC and Rutgers TCC certifications
  • B.S. Engineering, Construction Management or combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, as needed, and travel throughout the state
  • Experience with NJ Transit, NJDOT, NJ Turnpike, and PANJNY is highly desirable
  • Resident / Assistant Resident Engineers:

  • Oversee activities of the Construction Management and Inspection team
  • Administer the construction contract and coordinate with CM/CI team, Contractor and Owner
  • Knowledge of contract administration, office procedures, and construction technologies
  • Manage and review shop drawings for conformance with project plans and site conditions
  • Review contractors construction procedures for conformance with plans and specifications
  • Acts as owner's technical liaison with engineer of record and general contractor
  • Resolve construction issues in the field and make recommendations
  • Communicate with the project team and Client throughout the project and closeout
  • Oversee the Quality Assurance and Control during the construction phase
  • Possess excellent communication, client relationship and team building skills
  • Able to manage a large staff of field personnel and work as team player
  • Attend training / classes to obtain additional inspection and safety certifications

  • Construction Inspectors / Office Engineers:

  • Responsibilities and experience include but are not limited to:
  • Review contractors construction procedures for conformance with plans and specifications
  • Acts as owner's technical liaison with engineer of record and the general contractor
  • Resolve construction issues in the field and make recommendations
  • Oversee the Quality Control during construction phase
  • Ability to read, write and understand plans and direction
  • Possess basic computer skills (excel, word, emails)
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and traverse job site consisting of uneven terrain
  • Able to climb ladder (varying height) and ride mechanical lift/bucket truck up to 100' in height
  • Able to wear/operate personal fall protection and standard PEP (hard hats, safety vest, work boots, safety glasses, etc.)
  • Work under the direction of a Professional Engineer or Resident Engineer.
  • Prepare inspection reports, quantity calculations, and witness material testing
  • Attend training / classes to obtain additional inspection and safety certifications
