NEWSCENTER Now is a personality-driven, LIVE news show borne each day out of social listening and digging deeper on stories our viewers tell us they really care about. We don't chase fires or car crashes. The show's built on powerful storytelling, innovative thinking when it comes to approaches and angles on stories, and connecting with our community.

If you were born curious, if you're a true advocate for the people, if you are socially savvy and if you can capture the heart of a story and relate it in a way that's hard to forget, let's talk!

Specifically, our NEWSCENTER Now co-anchor/MMJ is expected to:

  • You don't turn it "on" when you're on-air. It's just you.
  • Enterprise is your thing -- you know how to identify and tell great stories!
  • Your content is shareable and evokes emotion.
  • You're high-energy, an idea faucet and bring a spirit of collaboration to the team.
  • Can shoot, write and edit stories.
  • You're totally invested in the show across ALL platforms, not just on-air.
  • Find daily opportunities to reach new audiences and deepen our community connections through social media, public appearances and community events.
  • Write and post daily on digital and social platforms.
  • Operate station vehicle to and from locations.
  • Perform other tasks as required by News Director.

  • Here's what you need:

  • Reel that captures your personality and shows examples of strong, in-depth storytelling.
  • Great interviewing skills for live segments. You can artfully tell a story, build to an overarching theme and often get people to reveal something unexpected; memorable.
  • Evidence you're consistently growing and engaging your social communities.
  • BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field preferred.
  • Willingness to work the hours, days, shifts needed to get the job done.
  • Willingness to live/immerse yourself in the greater Portland community and commit to the job for at least 3 years
  • Ability to consistently turn out high-quality content
  • If working with a creative, upbeat, nimble team on the New England coast in a city that's become a destination for foodies and craft-beer lovers appeals to you, please complete the online application on the employment tab at Paper resumes or any electronic information received that does not come through the online application process will not be considered part of the applicant pool.
