The diagnostic imaging technologist is responsible for staffing of the department at all times. Most of the time the technologist will be assigned to set hours but if the need arises the hours can change. A typical day for a diagnostic technologist would be the following: Portable chest taken in the ER, flouro in early am, running a c-arm in surgery, multiple film on a trauma patient in the ER, helping to move a.m. immobile patient to a procedure table, portable chest on a newborn in nursery, and sometimes staying over to assist the next shift if patient backlog occurs. Diagnostic technologist can also be cross-trained to do other modalities when or if the need arises.
Physical Requirements : Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, walk at least 5 hours per day, lift /carry 15 pounds, hear alarms and telephone rings, distinguish colors, perform repetitive tasks/motions, have good eye/hand/foot coordination, and have clear vision at 20 or more feet with or without vision corrective device.
