How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Site Controller position in the Global Utility Division.  Additionally, you will:

  • Accountable for the analysis and reporting of site financial data including sales, cost of sales, margin analysis, inventory valuation and reconciliation, manufacturing performance, manufacturing variances, income statements, balance sheets, operational variances, capital expenditures, forecast/planning and special projects assigned by the General Manager.  The individual is also expected to prepare and analyze the plant’s financial strategic plan, annual operating plan, develop, review and maintain control procedures regarding financial and operational controls of the business unit and prepare /review monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Assisting the General Manager in the overall operations and profitability of the site while maintaining outstanding internal and external customer services.  Actions are focused on cooperation, consensus and teamwork, driven by data analysis, while maintaining a broad perspective of the overall business (sales, margins, competition, and environment).
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with a broad variety of people of diverse personalities, temperaments, education, skills and social and economic backgrounds.
  • Maintain a high level of teamwork and culture of continuous improvement not only within the plant, but also within the Division and Corporate staff.   In coordination with the site Management Staff, the incumbent is responsible for planning and assisting programs and practices in a manner that improves plant performance with regard to the utilization of its personnel to achieve the organization’s objectives. 
  • Responsible for analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.  Performs a variety of tasks including developing procedures and policies for office activities.   Leads and directs the work of others.  Oversees the calculating, posting, verifying duties to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining accounting, statistical, and inventory records.  Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within field.    Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.  
  • What it takes

    Required Qualifications

  • The incumbent should have a Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting.
  • Associated hours in business management or related field a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and standard cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
  • Proven ability to provide leadership for team members
  • Proven ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
  • Proven ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Working knowledge of accounting software.

    Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • Two to four years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • CPA is a plus
  • #UT (Utility)
