Powertrain Project Manager-Intermediate

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects.
  • Oversees all aspects of projects. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of project.
  • Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of project.
  • Leads and directs the work of others.
  • Responsibilities include program planning, development and maintenance of master timing schedules, project risk assessments, change management, and project integration across the various functional departments.
  • This position is responsible for program management of all Powertrain Engineering assembly plant end-items (focus on the interfaces with Vehicle Engineering).
  • The Powertrain Model Integration Manager (MIM) is responsible for program management of powertrain engineering assembly and will manage the progress of vehicle powertrain activities.
  • Some responsibilities will include: program planning, development and maintenance of master timing schedules, project risk assessments, change management, and project integration across the various functional departments.
  • This will include pilot builds and launch support for current and next generation products.
  • The incumbent will coordinate project timing across the enterprise and develop both virtual and physical property plans.
  • The MIM will escalate issues and roadblocks promptly and drive issue resolution.
  • In addition, the MIM is responsible for collecting and monitoring inputs for Engineering Research and Development (ER&D) spending, tooling and facilities investment, and will develop and monitor engineering resources preapproved spending plan.
  • The MIM will be responsible for providing program status updates to senior and executive leadership.
  • Additionally, the MIM will lead and direct the work of others by setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities and monitoring the progress of project.

    Job Requirements

  • BSME or BSEE - (not technology)
  • 2+ years of experience in Powertrain engineering including design, development, and/or program management in any of the following areas: Engine, Transmission, Driveline, Packaging, Adaptation, Controls, Calibration
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience leading meetings and giving presentations
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Project, Excel)
  • Will consider 0-3 years’ experience only if the candidate had good Powertrain experience doing Formula 1 SAE type experience in college, Motorsports involvement, auto technician in background.  Someone who has a solid understanding and real world car/powertrain experience.
  • May be required to drive a company car. A valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record.
  • Will be required to travel domestically up to 20%
