Position Purpose:

Manages supply chain inventory by standardizing product and processes consistent with the direction and strategy from the System Office. With the Directors and Managers of Supply Chain manages the Boise Storeroom and advises the Nampa, Ontario, and Baker City in process improvement, achieving key performance metrics and achieves product standardization, with the goal of achieving significant year-over-year price reductions and utilization improvements in the total cost of goods and services procured while maintaining or improving product quality and vendor service levels. Coordinates SARMC involvement and participation in Trinity Health sourcing initiatives to drive system-wide priorities and achieve service and quality excellence, knowledge transfer for replication of "best practice" in leading local implementation of various initiative outcomes.

Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Supply Chain or related field. Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years of staff management and leadership experience required.
  • 2 to 5 years of project management experience in purchasing required. Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and grow supplier relationships.
  • Must be goal-oriented, possessing a passion for reducing cost and improving the quality of patient care delivery.
  • Must be comfortable with conflict and willing to challenge conventional thinking.
  • Must possess ability to think strategically, follow strategic directions and bring forth any potential problems.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in initiating daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to make good decisions under pressure and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills in coordinating multiple tasks.
  • Must work well with time constraints and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively use hospital Supply Chain Information System.
  • Intermediate/advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


  • Essential Functions:
  • Meets Health System's Guiding Behaviors and Caring Standards including interpersonal communication and professional conduct expectations.
  • Acts as a change agent and catalyst in achieving year-over-year non-salary expense reductions by supporting product standardization and installing best practices regarding inventory management.
  • Manages SARMC compliance to Trinity Health and GPO contracts and standardization initiatives.
  • Works closely with the Value Analysis process and associated savings tracking/validation processes to achieve standardization and on-contract spend for appropriate products.
  • Communicates problems, opportunities to Regional Director.
  • In conjunction with the Idaho Director provides feedback on colleague performance, participates in hiring, provides schedule for Boise storeroom.
  • Maintains a positive, proactive style of communication. Exercises sound and effective problem solving and critical thinking skills. Actively shares knowledge and provides feedback in a positive, productive and non-threatening manner.
  • Acts as a conduit between CHE-Trinity Health and SAHS to resolve all distributor related issues (open purchase orders, buyer messages, etc.).
  • Maintains competence in all SAHS Lawson system administrator functions such as: Item add/deletion, Vendor add/deletion, Template maintenance/Par location maintenance, Local testing coordinator for system upgrades.
  • Develops and maintains strong, credible relationships with all hospital and corporate staff and functions as a facilitator to expedite the resolution of inventory related problems that may exist between the Logistics and all other servicing departments.
  • Continuously monitor supply levels and works with Logistics Team to ensure appropriate level of product availability. Manages any shortages of supplies on hand.
  • Evaluates the service delivery processes relating to inventory to maximize efficiency and improve services. Recommends and implements process improvements.
  • Manages the inventory control process and coordinates and organizes the audit count process through both daily cycle counts and an annual physical count to maintain accurate inventory control at each SA Ministry Organization.
  • Analyzes inventory flow patterns and utilization at all servicing locations and recommends adjustments using the EOQ or other approved Inventory Management tool.
  • Collects and analyzes assigned metrics weekly and presents to management.
  • Runs queries and reports on inventory and usage daily to ensure inventory data is accurate and develops ad hoc reports within Lawson.
  • May require some weekend and off shift work to troubleshoot and/or resolve issues.
  • Require some business travel.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health Diversity Program, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
