WFF Maintenance Technician HVAC and Electrical Certified, Boiler Experience Preferred-Up to $18/ hour - Henderson, NV

This is a full-time position with benefits Candidates must be able to pass a background check.

Primary Purpose
Maintain a comfortable environment for instruction and learning by ensuring the availability of heat and hot water throughout District schools, and providing HVAC and Maintenance Support.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Maintains, repairs, and directs the cleaning of steam and hot water boilers, heating equipment, and 140 and 180 degree hot water equipment for cafeteria kitchens.
  • Understands and familiar with water treatment and testing procedures on boiler systems.
  • Maintains and repairs stationery boilers and boiler mechanical room auxiliaries, using hand tools, and portable power tools.
  • Inspects and repairs boiler fittings, safety pop off valves, automatic control mechanisms, water columns, expansion tanks, pump couplings, draft fans, heat exchangers, water feed controls/valves, return pumps, and boiler room pumps
  • Repairs and replaces complete system piping, electrical pumps, heating pumps, and circulating pumps on associated equipment
  • Patches boiler insulation and repairs leaks in condensate tanks by welding
  • Adjusts temperature controls on boilers.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on boilers during summer shutdown inspections periods and coordinates inspections with the insurance company inspectors.
  • Performs boiler efficiency tests and adjusts burner regulators and air controls.
  • Adjusts and replaces all boiler linkage and bleeds hot water lines of all air to establish circulation when needed.
  • Repairs and replaces suspended heating hot water heaters and steam heaters.
  • Repairs and replaces hot water control valves on convection heaters in the classrooms.
  • Provides preventive maintenance and care for hand tools and equipment.
  • Plans day-to-day work and assigns priorities.
  • Inspects and Logs findings on each boiler when on job site.
  • Instructs and trains custodians in the cleaning of boiler exterior, firing, and reporting of boiler operation problems. (this does not seem like a good idea)
  • Exercises care to avoid accidental explosions which could injure students or personnel.
  • Performs water and gas leak inspections on problem systems to ensure the stability of gas valves.
  • Completes reports on system inspections and part and equipment purchases.
  • Operates tools and equipment per established safety procedures.
  • Ensures that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
    Qualifications
    Education/Certification High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
    Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  • “A” mechanic license or HVAC Certificate from an accredited Trade School
  • Stationary Steam Engineer License
  • High Pressure/Low Pressure Certifications
    Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations
  • Knowledge of boiler operations, threading pipes, cleaning boilers, and minor insulation of boilers and piping
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints
    Experience: One year experience in maintenance, HVAC, boiler operator, boilermaker, or boiler repairman.
