Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Information Technology, the Executive Director will have responsibility and oversight for the following:  Global IT Infrastructure, IT Services (e.g. Help Desk, Level 2 Support, Field Support), Project Management Office and IT Governance. 

Responsibilities:

Strategically, the Executive Director will ensure the development and execution of a vision and roadmap for each area of oversight.  Operationally, the Executive Director is responsible for delivering daily operational excellence across all critical technology platforms, planning and execution of key initiatives and programs, and ensuring a robust, scalable and secure environment for business operations and growth.  From a people perspective, the Executive Director is responsible for managing and mentoring the IT leaders and teams under his or her direction, to deliver effective staffing, resource allocation, training, coaching, mentoring, career development and retention.  Ability to communicate and partner with business leaders, align with business strategy and deliver critical business initiatives is essential.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversight and daily operations of Global IT infrastructure and related services, including Architecture, Networking, Servers, Database, Telecom, Disaster Recovery for Viad Corp and operating companies in the Viad family.
  • Delivery and management of other IT Services, including Help Desk, Level 2 Support, User Access Requests, Field Support and Show Support. Ensure strong business partnership, standard repeatable processes and capabilities to quickly address operational issues.
  • Oversight of Project Management Office and key initiatives they drive, including ensuring strong business partnership and alignment, standard repeatable processes and capabilities to track and improve program delivery.
  • Oversight and delivery of IT governance and compliance, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx), Payment Card Industry (PCI) and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Primary point of contact for hardware vendors and support service relationships.  
  • Further develop and deliver effective strategy and initiatives to leverage cloud based and other current technologies to increase capabilities, improve productivity and control cost.
  • Responsible for implementing departmental and company-wide standards, policies and procedures and developing a client service orientation around key services.
  • Effective budgeting and planning for all operations and initiatives.
  • Development of service catalogue and service levels for all IT services.
  • Qualifications:

    Experience:

    Must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of experience in a large enterprise environment.  Must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years managing a team of technical resources.  Must possess the ability to effectively document and manage the strategic initiatives as defined by the company.  Must have experience in Oracle e-Business and RDMBS technologies, Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange and deployment strategies. Must have proven track record of managing a department within strict budgetary guidelines.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    Excellent analysis, problem solving, and project management and delivery skills.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.  High integrity, customer focused and quality driven. Self-directed, self- motivated and flexible in dealing with change. 

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or other technical field.  MBA preferred.

    Work Environment:

    Travel will be required up to 25%
