Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision this position is responsible for overall planning and execution of the interior and exterior color harmony processes per Daimler standards. Establishes and maintains a quality system to promote and control the quality of manufacturing to fulfill the internal and external customer expectations and thereby enable MBUSI to meet business targets. Provides advanced quality planning support in the development and launch of new products and processes and maintains these systems throughout the life cycle of the given product. Supports MBUSI in the analysis, prioritization, investigation, and ultimate resolution of product concerns throughout the product life cycle.
Essential Functions: (List all basic responsibilities related to the purpose of the position)
Assures customer satisfaction for both our internal and external customers by maintaining and improving both system and vehicle quality
Develops, implements, and trains on the use of inspection/test plans, standards/acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions (including Daimler standards)
Creates and conducts cascade training for Color Harmony auditors
Coordinates scheduling, testing, and maintains testing results for Munsell hue testing
Supports Internal Quality Audits as well as vehicle evaluations
Fulfills requirements established in the Operational Quality Plans for both series and launch (null series, production trials) evaluations
Investigates and eliminates causes of systemic quality problems and follows up on corrective actions, including but not limited to conducting line trial and special evaluations
Facilitates cross-functional problem solving efforts to eliminate recurrence of top quality concerns
Supports “Quality Built in at the Process” and Continuous Improvement activities throughout operations
Conducts studies to find the most economical solutions for inspection methods, instruments, and test equipment
Provides support in the development and evaluation of process capability, process control plans, analysis of out-of-standard conditions and process audits with the objective of improving process performance and capability
Plans, implements, and maintains inspection tools, equipment, and databases within the Color Harmony process
Participates in the design and approval of internal gages, measurement instruments, devices, and test equipment
Constructs, purchases, and maintains measurement equipment by developing and implementing a system to assess and act upon measurement system accuracy and precision (repeatability and reproducibility)
Support each shop and functional group in attaining the quality goals of the organization
Supports Ramp-up teams through new model development
Develops and analyzes statistical data and product/process performance to recommend and implement improvements in targeted areas of the organization
Serves as back-up, when necessary, for the Color Harmony Coordinator position
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or related area and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in an automotive engineering related or quality function within a manufacturing environment
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a willingness to work in a team environment
Strong time management and project management skills
Strong PC skills. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications
Working experience of CBFC, PLUS, MRS, and CAT systems
Highly motivated individual dedicated to customer satisfaction
Experience with color harmony vehicle evaluations
Willingness to work in a foreign country for defined time periods
Superior rating on the Munsell hue test is a requirement for this position
Working knowledge of ISO 14000, ISO/TS 16949 Management systems
Experience in assessing cost of quality
Experience with SPC
Experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning
German language skills
