Detailed Job Description:
Heavy construction equipment field mechanic position covering a customer base in the greater working area.  Individual is required to operate a field service truck and perform service on Komatsu and other brands of heavy equipment.  Requires ability to work independently in performing repairs and maintenance, including strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electronics.  Individual should have strong diagnostic and repair skills.

Detailed Job:

  • Perform heavy equipment inspections and repairs in the shop.
  • Diagnose, troubleshot and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic breakdowns on heavy equipment
  • Drive a service truck to various locations as needed and make repairs
  • Work independently with no supervision
  • Work on Komatsu and other brands of heavy equipment
  • Qualified candidates must have 3+ years of successful hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, diagnostics, and be very experienced with the latest electronically controlled machines.
  • Must be able to fully comprehend hydraulic and electrical schematics with a history of successful troubleshooting and technical experience.
  • Must maintain daily service reports, equipment status reports,
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and in a service-oriented manner, both written and verbally, to: customers, vendors, manufacturers, etc. for technical questions and support.
  • Basic tool set required for position; Company will provide some specialty tools/equipment.
  • Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Valid State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to travel on a regular basis to include overnight stays.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • ADMINISTRATIVE/COMPUTER SKILLS: 

  • This position requires daily proficient use of a company-provided personal computer. Incumbent will be trained in and must be capable of using the Road Machinery eXtend software. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook for email required.
  • Thorough understanding of MS Excel, knowing how to manipulate spreadsheets.

  • Field environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, dust and dirt.
