Position Purpose:

Answers telephone and takes meal orders by using a wireless computer (tablet). Receives physician-ordered diet through PowerChart/CBORD interface and sends meal order within the ordered diet. Takes patient orders and inputs into CBORD. Serves food trays to patients, verifies correctness of meal ticket, and performs customer service to exceed guests' satisfaction. Assists patients with tray table and opening packaged food items. Checks back with patient when meal is finished to record intake and complete customer service process. Removes tray from room and returns soiled holdings to kitchen.

Job Description Details:

Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • On-the-job training in the Food Service Associate position or diet therapy orientation by a licensed dietitian.
  • Previous experience in hospital food service helpful.
  • Competency in basic literacy skills including reading and oral communication and basic math skills required.

  • Essential Functions:
  • Meets Health System's Guiding Behaviors and Caring Standards including interpersonal communication and professional conduct expectations.
  • Performs diet-related customer service functions through the use of CBORD, PowerChart, a wireless tablet, and wireless telephone.
  • Delivers food trays to patients.
  • Assists the patients with opening packaged food items.
  • Picks up trays when meals are completed.
  • May be required to shuttle food products to off campus locations (if this is a requirement of the position then a driver's license record will be required and a valid Idaho Driver's License).
