Job Description The Global Category Lead will manage a material portfolio covering amongst others the global requirement of materials like PP, Salt, PET and BDO. The Global Category Lead will report into the Global Category Manager Polymers & Monomers.
  • Support a global Procurements category by developing and implementing a global sourcing strategy.                                               
  • Manage assigned suppliers, sub-categories and/or customer-base as agreed with the Global category Manager.                                             
  • Contribute to develop the category sourcing strategy and drive continuous improvement (entrepreneur role) new global market innovations (i.e. EMS opportunities) within boundaries set by the global category leader.                                         
  • Maintain a close network with industry leaders in the key account managers in the supply market.                                                 
  • Challenge existing concepts introducing creative new professional sourcing solutions.                                    
  • Develop business cases identifying scope, benefits & value creation, comparison between previous & future spend (investment), critical success factors and business challenges.                                                                                                                                        
  • Develop global agreements.                                               
  • Manage the processes of global vendor approval and relationships. 
  • Drive global compliance to legislation, standards and requirements.
  • Contribute to define and execute (globally implement) the assigned global sub-category Sourcing & Contracting strategy, plans and budget.
  • Provide inputs into overall procurement global category management strategy and procurement regional strategies.                                                                                  
  • Identify and actively drive (continuous improvement) global leverage opportunities cross regional procurement.                                               
  • Functional lead several global cross-functional teams (representatives of internal customers).         
  • Facilitate and lead the procurement process in the functional teams and governance of the process in pre-agreed tollgates with functional owners defined authorized stakeholders.
  • Present the procurement plans, goals and objectives to the functional teams.
  • Collect global vendor performance data and contracting requirements and align with functional teams.           
  • Analyze potential risks and opportunities of supplier changes versus as-is-status.
  • Prepare and issue request for quotations and align with functional team on selection criteria of suppliers with functional team.                                 
  • Expedite suppliers on confirmation to bid, collected clarification questions, collect and issue formal answers, expedite suppliers progress and ensure compliance to issued bid procedures.     
  • Prepare and analyze bid tabulations for received tenders; make recommendation as to ensure only the qualified competitive bidders are selected.  
  • Ensure legal checks and approvals.   
  • Coordinate and lead contract approval by identified authorized stakeholders for approval in accordance with the Master Authority Schedule.
  • Set and implement pricing framework and guidelines for assigned sub-categories.          
  • Negotiate with global current and new suppliers for assigned sub-categories.
  • Implement roll-out of agreements in the regions.
  • Monitor and report fulfillment of KPI’s, such as supplier’s preparation, expediting, shipment, delivery, and payment trends, consumption, maintenance, and disposal, expiration and renewal.
  • Execute and Monitor compliance with policies and procedures related to the respective global category.         
  • Monitor and Report spend trends and forecasts.                                                                                                                                              
  • Job Requirements
    • Minimum University Degree (Master/BS) in engineering, finance, business administration.
    • 15 years experience in the petrochemicals or in an industrial environment
    • 5 years management experience
    • 3 years experience of managing a similar function in a petrochemicals or industrial organization
    • Good professional and commercial knowledge of category under management and expertise          
    • Good knowledge of interconnecting processes within and in relation to Category Area
    • Good knowledge of manufacturing concepts in alignment with specific procurement knowledge
    • Good knowledge of specifications & supply market.        
    • Good negotiation skills                                      
    • Good people management and interpersonal skills (managing global virtual organizations)
    • Knowledgeable with policies, procedures, systems and best practices in the areas of Procurements and supplier qualifications      
    • Good quantitative and analytical, conceptual and planning skills       
    • Good financial analytical skills          
    • Good international communication and presentation skills                                                
    • Good change management skills       
    • Good in building teams and business relationships
    • Good cultural awareness   
    • Fluently English and 2nd language    
    • Knowledge of and experience in petrochemicals: technology, business economics (financial models) and market dynamics and value drivers  
    • Basic Legal knowledge, o.a. in relation to contracts          
    • Project management skills

    • Analyze suppliers’ performance and recommend improvements.
