Machine Shop, Welding and Tooling Manager (Direct Hire)

    THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY: Machine Shop, Welding and Tooling Manager
  • Efficient design coordination with engineering and timely fabrication of new and existing system components, tooling and engineering projects.
  • Produce quotation requests, design approvals, and monitoring of quotation activities.
  • Perform technical support to manufacturing, process engineering, automation, and maintenance
  • Planning, direction, and facilitation of fabrication, maintenance, and replacement of tooling and manufacturing equipment.
  • Ensure highest possible quality end products are fabricated meeting all engineering specifications
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing/fabrication methodologies and techniques.
  • Monitor capital expense tooling log and budget spreadsheet
  • Lead design modifications and improvement efforts on existing equipment to achieve increased efficiency and improve quality
    BACKGROUND PROFILE: Machine Shop, Welding and Tooling Manager
  • 10+ years’ experience in Machining, Fabrication, Tooling, Manufacturing and/or Production industries.
  • Extensive production management and supervision experience.
  • 4 year degree in engineering related field desired. An equivalent combination or relevant experience and education are acceptable.
  • Strong working knowledge of current versions of CAD. NX and Team Center preferred.
  • Toolmaker knowledge
  • Experience working with welded steel, aluminum fabrication, roll forming and plate bending
  • Large weldment fabrication and post machining experience 
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and Drawings / ASME Y14.5
  • Working knowledge of laser trackers, CMMs, manual measurement techniques
  • Working knowledge of waterjet operations and maintenance
  • Knowledge of Process, Manufacturing and Applications Engineering.
  • Experienced in design & proto-type work as well as small, medium and large-scale manufacturing production runs.
  • CNC Programming, Set up and operator experience.
  • Has managed a heavy industrial shop and ensured quality production as well as production rates
  • Familiar with Aerospace style drawings and fabrication requirements, and has directed fabrication of aerospace components and large assemblies
  • Familiar with automated and semi-automated tools.
