Production Manager – MSM Benton Harbor MI Facility       

The Metallurgical Services Off Line Maintenance (MSM) Facility in Benton Harbor, MI, is within Primetals Technologies USA LLC.  The Facility specializes in complete continuous caster equipment repair, including advanced copper coating and caster roll overlay welding technologies.  The recently commissioned roll shop specializes in the manufacturing and reconditioning of rolls for continuous casters.  We provide our customers with the technologically advanced process of metallurgical engineering, on-site electroplating, laboratory, roll performance evaluations, failure analysis, computerized roll tracking and customized weld and weld-overlay capabilities

The Production Manager position is responsible for managing all production operations and shop activities, including the supervision of the hourly union employees.

Responsibilities:

Manages the activities of the shop floor, under the direction of the General Manager, and follows established procedures and approved processes.

  • Supervises all production operations such as machining, plating, mechanical assembly, and welding.
  • Plans, schedules and coordinates activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements and deliver on time quality products.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes in methods and procedures to improve quality and delivery time.
  • Acts as a liaison with other departments and MSM Facilities.
  • Prepares reports concerning production activities.
  • Applies Company policies and assures adherence to Company procedures.
  • Interviews and recommends candidates for employment or termination.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff.
  • Responsible for training and developing assigned employees.
  • A team member in the resolution of customer complaints.
  • Leads the investigation for customer service dissatisfaction.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Education:  

    BS in Manufacturing, Engineering or a related field preferred.

  • Technical - A demonstrated knowledge of the functions within a steel maintenance facility.

    Ten years of a combination of plant and project management within a union steel mill maintenance environment.
