Job Description

A position is available in the Thoracic Oncology
Research Laboratory of the Norton Thoracic Institute at St. Joseph"s Hospital
and Medical Center. The candidate should
have familiarity and experience with basic molecular biology protocols
including nucleic acid isolation, PCR, and Western blot analysis. The candidate should have familiarity with
basic computer software programs (MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, Excel, and
Illustrator) and good organizational skills (keeping a detailed lab notebook,
etc.). Experience in protein detection by both Western blot analysis and
immunohistochemistry is desirable. The willingness to work with small
pre-clinical models is required. Candidates with experience with pre-clinical
model procedures, including maintenance and implantation of primary tumor tissue
into immune compromised pre-clinical models, is extremely desirable.


Located in Phoenix, AZ, this
position is critical to the success of St. Joseph"s Hospital Medical Center and
requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the
Mission of Dignity Health.


Minimum Requirements:

B.A. or B.S. in appropriate science-related field.Performs complex and novel procedures as a laboratory professional under the general supervision of a laboratory head, using proven scientific methods. Oversees or executes work pertaining to clerical matters such as equipment, supply and/or other material inventory, purchasing and/or maintenance.


Two (2) years prior experience in a research, clinical, or other scientific environment required. Four (4) years of prior experience in a research, clinical, or other scientific environment preferred. Bachelor"s degree required. Familiar with laboratory techniques. Working knowledge of the scientific method. Demonstrates an ability to continually improve performance preferred. Familiar with basic computer skills required.
