The position is mostly a Commodity role, with some Project responsibility as well
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Request for quote activity for raw material as needed by various projects
Negotiates prices and conditions (new projects) according to the general terms and conditions. Consideration for the total cost of ownership.
Development / preparation and conclusion of contracts with suppliers (according to Commodity Strategy)
Support of selection, release and development of new suppliers as required to accomplish savings targets
Reporting for the saving and localization results for the assigned scope of responsibility
Management of the supplier panel for the assigned scope of responsibility
Alternate supplier VAVE: Make recommendations for cost savings resulting from the use of a different supplier than is originally proposed by Engineering
Leads Make or Buy investigations
Reviews Supplier Scorecard results in coordination with Commodity Purchasing and Supplier Development.
Fill the role of Purchasing Core Team Member on the interdisciplinary Project Team
Ensures a constant link between the Project Team and the Purchasing department; provides relevant information in both directions
Responsible for Purchasing tasks from customer RFQ till SOP and following lifetime production.
Makes inquiries (Global Sourcing) for development parts and serial parts for project applications according to Commodity Strategy.
Observation of cost targets
Communicate to Purchasing management the cost savings targets desired by the Project Team
Communicate to the Project Team latest achievement status of those targets on a regular basis
Required Knowledge and Experience:
University Degree in Applied Sciences, Business Administration or equivalent education
Three years minimum, five years plus preferred of purchasing experience in the automotive industry
Proficiency in English required; other language skills an asset
Ability to work on international and cross functional teams
Strong knowledge and capability using Microsoft Excel
Proficiency in other Microsoft Suite programs such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint or other relevant applications
Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S.
