Job Description

As a Market Maintenance Representative, you will be responsible for acting as the liaison between the Property Management field staff, the Service Department, and our residential tenants to ensure maintenance requests are resolved in a timely manner. We'll rely on you to efficiently handle incoming work orders and make appropriate decisions on the best course of action to solve the problem. In some cases, you'll need further clarification from a tenant, and such calls will leverage your understanding of single-family home maintenance issues so that you can speak credibly to our clients.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting Field Manager in resolving move-in maintenance requests by reaching out to vendors and scheduling work to be performed
  • Providing local support on escalated maintenance issues by researching work orders and assisting tenants over the phone with past-due or incomplete maintenance issues
  • Assisting tenants in troubleshooting issues that may be diagnosed and resolved without cost; assisting tenants by creating work orders if issues aren't resolved
  • Facilitating communication between American Homes 4 Rent, vendors, and tenants
  • Assisting in the evaluation of vendor quality, cost, and service; making recommendations on new vendors and reporting under-performing vendors to management; updating Yardi property management software to maintain accurate history of maintenance issues
  • Actively monitoring aging work orders and taking appropriate corrective action to resolve
  • Required Skills:

    Knowledge

  • High School Diploma or (GED) equivalent
  • 3 plus years' experience in a customer service position, within a construction- or maintenance-related environment
  • Knowledge of single-family home components and related systems and structures
  • Dispatchers, warranty service professionals, and service advisers encouraged to apply
  • Skills/ Abilities

  • Intermediate PC skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to interact effectively and collaborate with other departments and teams
