Job Description Overview:

The Senior Project Engineer coordinates engineering projects from the quote stage to final engineering. Typical projects include the design and installation of industrial steel storage rack, structural steel platforms, conveyor support structures, shelving, elevated walkways, and custom designed products in large distribution centers. May train and review the work of less-senior team members. Offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and advancement.



Responsibilities:

  • Designs/Enhances conveyor systems as well as various automated and semi-automated material handling systems;
  • Creates required plans and or drawings of conveyor systems;
  • Creates required elevation and/or section view drawings;
  • Generates all bill of materials required for fabrication and installation;
  • Develops conveyor listings, calculate conveyor load points, and horsepower;
  • Designs steel structures, platforms, and ceiling hanger steel;
  • Selects vendors based on  best quality and price for various equipment;
  • Occasionally travels to project site to measure buildings, inventory equipment, commission systems, and interface with the customer;
  • Works with evolving client requirements, which may require new designs and developments;
  • Finds custom solutions based on creative problem solving techniques which may include hands on skills;
  • Finds, evaluates, and negotiates with vendors for equipment to integrate into solutions for our clients
  • Travels to job sites occasionally


  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Architectural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience
  • Previous material handling or construction experience or previous structural steel detailing experience a plus
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced results-oriented environment
  • Ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, vendors, consulting engineers, architects, and installers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented and collaborative

  • Ability to learn new technology
