SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for processing a large volume of Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) claims as well as evidence of insurability (EOI) applications. Responsibilities include:  review Short Term Disability (STD) applications for salaried and management non-exempt Team Members and compare with occupational disability guidelines for duration to determine length and eligibility for STD benefits; communicate with physicians/nurses and Team Members in requests or review of medical documentation; work with Tyson Human Resources and nurses to  assist in Team Member's return to work or transitional work options;  assist Team Members with filing for LTD benefits when appropriate; notify corporate Benefits Counselors regarding approval to pay Short Term Disability benefits and maintain databases for tracking data and payments. Other duties include: thoroughly and accurately review, process and file claims and applications with insurance company; assist Team Members with questions and issues related to claims and policies; provide support to Benefits Counselors  regarding claims and policies in order to assist their Team Members; answer questions and resolve any issues that occur with internal and external contacts (insurance company, funeral  homes, attorneys, etc.); track claim and application receipt and progress using maintained databases and external website; coordinate requests for claim information between the insurance company and  the benefits counselors and notify of determinations on claims and applications; verify accuracy of payments on Life and AD&D claims prior to mailing benefit checks; calculate reimbursement of LTD premiums on approved claims; SAP data entry for beneficiary changes and LTD benefit approvals. REQUIREMENTS: Education:  Requires education beyond high school including any special training, vocational school and/or college courses. Experience:  5+ years' insurance experience. Computer Skills:  Standard computer skills: proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook required; SAP preferred. Communication Skills:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all level of Team Members. Special Skills:  Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, understanding of benefit eligibility rules; ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines; strong attention to detail; ability to maintain confidentiality. Supervisory:  N/A Travel:  N/A  Position-Specific Requirements

This is a Management Non-Exempt position which means that it is a management position that is paid hourly.

This position does not offer reimbursement for interview expenses and/or relocation assistance. Priority consideration will be provided to area applicants that reside within a 50 mile radius of the posted location first.
