  • Define, plan, and develop operations requirements on the physical processes, facilities, procedures, and support equipment necessary to support operational launch vehicles and in-space systems
  • Integrate operations requirements from Program Elements, develop integrated requirements, and interface with KSC for input of program operations and maintenance requirements to the Ground Systems Development and Operations (GSDO) Program tools
  • Evaluate functional and performance requirements development, derivation, decomposition, and allocation for spaceflight hardware
  • Assess design drawings and determine relationship to verification and validation of operational requirements necessary to achieve mission objectives (ground, countdown and flight)
  • Support mission support planning and training in the form of integrated test and checkout simulation script development and console implementation
  • Support console display planning and definition
  • Use knowledge of ground processing, launch countdown and flight timelines, as well as anomaly resolution
  • Produce technical documentation (plans, requirements, specifications, agreements, etc.) by authoring and/or integrating specialist inputs as required
  • Support relevant trade studies and special study teams as assigned
  • Participate in document & milestone reviews to include major milestones; review flight evaluation plans, internal products, and Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) products
  • Promote detailed technical coordination within the SLSP (Elements and disciplines), and with external programs and stakeholders
  • Work closely with NASA Government counterparts, prime contractor personnel, multiple engineering disciplines, and various integrated product teams

  • Travel to NASA and contractor facilities as required supporting, reviews, meetings, TIMs, conferences, etc.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in application of Systems Engineering to complex programs
  • Experience in Verification and Validation approaches, methodology and document implementation
  • Experience evaluating functional and performance requirements development, derivation, decomposition, and allocation for spaceflight hardware
  • Experience assessing design drawings and determining relationship to verification and validation of operational requirements necessary to achieve mission objectives (ground, countdown and flight)
  • Knowledge of ground processing, launch countdown and flight timelines, as well as anomaly resolution
  • Critical thinking, effective communications, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential

  • Experience performing mission support planning and training in the form of integrated test and checkout simulation script development and console implementation highly desired
  • Real-time flight support of mission objectives
  • Knowledge of launch vehicles design and operations interfaces as well as demonstrated experience with systems engineering and integration of ground and/or flight hardware is highly desired
  • Integration of payloads, space systems, and/or space programs
  • NASA/contractor environment familiarity is desired
  • Knowledge of NASA space launch operations and flow processes
  • Experience in the operation and support of a fielded space transportation system
  • Experience with requirements management tools; systems engineering tools; product Development, Design, Test and Evaluation, Engineering Document Management Systems, and unique databases during system development
  • Education Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum of 4 years of experience, a Masters with at least 6 years of experience, or a BS with at least 10 years of experience
  • Degree in Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution
  • Minimum 4 years relevant aerospace/space industry applicable experience is required
  • Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday
  • Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job
  • Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required
