This role coordinates and integrates case management, utilization review, and discharge planning. Ensures concurrent medical record review using indicators and criteria from CMS, payors, JCAHO, medical staff and so forth & promotes CDI. Knowledgeable in current federal regulatory requirements for case management. Role requires understanding of financial reimbursements and third party payments. Requires excellent verbal and written skills; must be able to relate positively to multi-disciplinary healthcare team. Role requires close interaction, cooperation, and team building with QRM/HIM Director. Requires Revenue Integrity and Compliance focus.
Education: Current RN nursing license from Alabama Board of Nursing.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in case management related activity.
Skills/Credentials: Case management experience preferred. Basic Microsoft computer knowledge. Utilizes critical thinking, interpersonal and technical skills within the patient care continuum. Must be adaptable and flexible. Must possess complex problem solving skills including the ability to manage conflict. Significant organizational skills with demonstrated ability to correlate multiple projects simultaneously.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, walk at least 4 hours per day, lift/ carry 10 pounds, hear alarms and telephone rings, distinguish colors, perform repetitive tasks/motions, have eye/hand/foot coordination and have clear vision at 20 or more feet with or without vision corrective device. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
