Job Coach Responsibilities

Assists persons served in achieving employment goals. Counsel person(s) served and provide group and educational guidance services.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides Safe transportation for person(s) served to and from work
  • Assists person(s) served utilizing public transportation if available
  • Assists person(s) served in obtaining required clothing, supplies, etc. needed for employment
  • Serves as an advocate for the person served by promoting inclusion in the community
  • Immediately reports suspected allegations of abuse/neglect to supervisor
  • Prepares timely written reports as required
  • Communicates effectively with employers and agency staff to ensure a successful transition and continued employment
  • Maintains a positive and professional relationship with employers
  • Attends service plan meetings and provides information for the development of services plans are required
  • Communicates relevant information to individuals served to appropriate persons
  • Attends all mandatory training as required by Company and/or regulations
  • Maintains current valid driver’s license
  • Ensures all required certifications are maintained/obtained timely
  • Dependable, accepts responsibility for attendance and punctuality
  • Works when scheduled, observes policies regarding scheduling and time off
  • Flexible, adjusts workload to accommodate changes in priorities and workload
  • Handles information in a confidential manner
  • Presents a neat, clean appearance and dresses appropriately for the job
  • Effectively utilizes time
  • Cooperates and is willing to assist others, accepts direction
  • Notifies proper authorities of circumstances or situations that present possible health hazards
  • Sets a good example for others by own self-discipline and behavior
  • Observes established policies on health, safety, and security
  • Performs work according to the code of conduct, regulations, policies, and guidelines
  • Does not engage in activities other than official business during working hours
  • Reports significant/major incidents or accidents
  • Specific Requirements

  • Experience in providing services and supports to individuals with mental retardation, developmental disabilities or related disorders preferred.
  • Minimum age requirement is 18 years.
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with all levels of personnel internal and external to the company.
  • Capable of working responsibly with highly confidential information.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Exceptions to educational requirements must comply with state law.
  • Valid driver’s license from state of residence with satisfactory driving record as defined by ResCare’s vehicle policy and/or liability insurance carrier.
