Job Description

SUMMARY
Repairs and maintains welding equipment and other general maintenance by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Observes welders in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of welders and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in welders.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Tests welder performance before returning to customer.
  • Creates invoices, back-orders, customer bills and enters appropriate information into computer.
  • Repairs Linweld vehicles and trucks to extent of knowledge.
  • Attends seminars and other educational functions to keep up-to-date with the latest technology and repair techniques.
  • Performs general facility maintenance.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    REASONING ABILITY
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    Required Experience

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    • Associate's degree in Mechanics or related field from two-year college or technical school;
    • Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    • Hazardous materials training and certification
