Job Description
Technical Instructor
  • Design and develop instructional content and supporting materials for technical and professional IT development courses
  • Facilitate and deliver technical training to a variety of audiences in different environments
  • Serve as lead instructor for training programs, classes, workshops, computer-based training, virtual training, expos, and other events
  • Possess understanding of appropriate instructional design methodologies (ADDIE), 21st century skills development, and adult learning principles
  • Provide consultation and support services in instructional design, strategies, assessment, development, evaluation, and innovative learning techniques
  • Design and develop various types of learning programs and content, including project-based learning, e-learning, classroom, webinars, PowerPoint, computer-based training, video, photography, etc.
  • Create online training and marketing solutions using video, audio, graphic design, animation, and solid instructional design
  • Perform in-depth needs analysis to uncover learner and organizational needs, and identify learning and performance gaps and changes in work processes, procedures, and technologies
  • Use interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video, and audio to communicate with and educate learners
  • Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer information systems/technology, instructional technology, education, or related area, or 4 years of job-related work experience, or 2 years of job-related work experience plus an associate degree in related field
  • Development Dimensions International (DDI) facilitation skills certified instructor
  • 2 years of training experience, including IT course development and delivery experience and 3 years of IT technical experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent OR 2 years of training experience, including IT course development and delivery experience and 1 year of IT technical experience with a master’s degree
  • Experience delivering instructor lead and virtual trainings
  • Experience delivering speeches at public speaking events 
  • In-depth knowledge of systems, applications, networking, security, and programming languages
  • Ability to create materials and teach IT students and professionals
  • Instructional design, electronic media design, or related work experience using multiple course creation tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, conceptual, and planning skills
  • Ability to edit audio/video/image files for consistency
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, both independently and with groups
  • Knowledge of methods for reporting statistics
  • Knowledge of processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications, infrastructure, networking, and programming
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Flexible schedule to work day, afternoon, and Saturday as needed to deliver training programs
  • Ability to travel to other locations to deliver program offerings and speaking engagements
  • Location: Columbia, SC
    Work to be performed onsite with 50% travel in SC
