The Accounting Analyst plays a critical role within the Accounting department in the areas of commissions, insurance, and payroll accounting. Candidates must have a strong ability to work in a team culture and to consistently meet and exceed the accountabilities noted below, which are crucial aspects of this role. A proven ability to work in a high energy, fast-paced environment is required.
Responsible for completion of monthly commissions analysis in an efficient, accurate and timely manner. This includes, but is not limited to integrating new/acquired sales force into commission structure and working with business partners to determine standard commission costing.
Responsible for Company’s insurance, program including but not limited to, renewals, audits, and additional related requests.
Responsible for proper recording of all Company’s payroll transactions and related month-end close activities, as necessary.
Use an understanding of the business, its products, its style, its operational systems, and organization structure to complete assigned responsibilities. Business processes which often impact responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: cash receipts, collections, and billing.
Participates in or initiates assignments to improve processes and/or quality in areas where has basic, intermediate, or advanced familiarity and participates in designing and drafting department or Company procedures
Supports information requests within the Finance and Accounting departments. Under varying levels of supervision, responds to external requests within the Company and its divisions.
Maintains orderly, accurate, and complete documentation and support of assigned work responsibilities and understands retention requirements for appropriate tax, Government and other regulatory offices.
Use Company technology to accomplish position responsibilities and special assignments in an effective and timely manner
Must take initiative, be self-motivated, and an independent, accountable, dependable performer
Maintain a high degree of professionalism
Complete other projects as requested
Bachelor’s degree in Business (Accounting or Finance emphasis). MBA, CPA, CMA a plus.
Preferred five plus years (three with MBA or CPA) increasingly complex experience in management reporting, analysis, and accounting.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, with employees of all levels within the organization, as well was U.S. Water customers both internally and externally
Ability to work well under pressure and maintain positive, enthusiastic attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to accomplish broadly defined objectives with minimal direction, exercising creativity, initiative and good business judgment.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
