Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Assists physical therapists with patient therapies.

 Assists with mobility team to improve function and mobility of patients.

 Assists the patients in all areas of physical therapy as directed by the therapist.

 Assists patients in and out of bed manually or with assistive devices.

 Work with patients to improve mobility and maintain functional status.

 Ambulation and range of motion.

 Walk patients as directed by the therapist.

 Maintain and update therapy activities in patient charts.

 Performs all other duties as appropriate to the position as directed by the therapists. 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Strength Factor – Requires exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Repetitive Motion – requires constant stress of maintaining a set pace that is physically demanding even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Physical Agility – requires the ability to do one or more of the following:

  • Walking/standing for extended periods
  • Kneeling/crouching
  • Bending/leaning
  • Pushing/pulling
  • Lifting/carrying
  • Sitting for extended periods
  • Grasping/holding objects
  • Eyesight Ability – requires the ability to see within normal limits with or without visual aids and must be able to distinguish colors.

    Audio Acuity – requires the ability to hear and distinguish sound within normal limits.

    Linguistic Speech – requires the ability to express or communicate in spoken words.

    Mental Acuity – requires the ability to reason and make independent judgments.

     Occupational Exposure – requires working with and/or around hazards materials, i.e., bloodborne pathogens and chemical/hazardous materials and/or waste.

    Must also be able to perform the following with or without the aid of mechanical devices: fine hand coordination, ability to read and write, ability to detect odors, and ability to remain calm under stress.
