Registered Nurse Intensive Care Unit (ICU) 
Full-Time Days w/ Rotating Weekends


Summary:


The RN demonstrates independence in planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with the NH Nurse Practice Act, recognized nursing techniques, clinical and administrative policies. 



  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in planning for the care of the patient.
  • Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs. 
  • Carries out physician orders.
  • Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs.
  • Provides respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for patients.
  • Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. 
  • Instructs and educates patients and families.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
  • Orients and mentors new staff members.
  • Participate in unit based CQI initiatives.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
  • Can demonstrate competency in PA catheter
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and proper care of the patient requiring temporary epicardial pacing
  • Can manage postoperative mediastinal bleeding
  • Can describe the action and indication of medications including vasopressor and inotropes.
  • Can care for the patient requiring IABP


  • Job RequirementsExperience:
    • 1-3 years of RN experience
    • 1 year of ICU experience preferred



    Licensure and Certifications:
    • New Hampshire RN State License or Valid Compact State License
    • BLS
    • ACLS
    • Basic Arrhythmia



    Education:
    • ASN Required
