Job Description MAINTENANCE LEAD (SECOND SHIFT) HOUSTON, TX


JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for electrical and mechanical servicing and efficient maintenance of production machinery and equipment, physical plant, utilities and grounds in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee second shift maintenance crew.
  • Directs the operations and maintenance of all machinery to provide uninterrupted service.
  • Makes analysis of machinery to ensure optimum effectiveness and proper maintenance.
  • Controls a preventive maintenance program to maintain production machinery and
  • equipment in proper working condition.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production machinery following established schedules.
  • Plans a continual work schedule to maintain all company property in a safe and healthy condition to achieve the
  • best working conditions possible for all employees.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical or hydraulic problems on all production machinery.
  • Install or modify existing installations of production and plant support equipment.
  • Work with Engineering Department on capital and non-capital projects.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the maintenance, electrical and mechanical operations.
  • Inspects jobs in process and at completion to ensure the standards of workmanship and safety are maintained.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of facility machinery and building.
  • Maintains inventories of maintenance material, supplies and repair parts at required levels by initiating requisitions
  • for purchase; periodically reviews inventory for proper upkeep at plant facilities.
  • Recommends, plans and implements equipment needs to improve production efficiency and/or achieve cost reduction.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have 6+ years experience in the Plastic Drum industry or Metal Fabrication Applications.
  • Must have 10+ years relevant maintenance experience.
  • Must have electrical knowledge, strong mechanical background, organizational skills and leadership ability.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations relative to plant operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to use hand tools in a safe manner. Must own basic hand tools
  • Experience with Six Sigma and/or Lean Management preferred.
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Willingness to work second shift and must be available to work on call as needed.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift 55 lbs overhead.
  • Requires good hand/eye/foot coordination.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and/or crouch for extended periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
  • and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
