Purpose of the Position:
Under general supervision, this role controls all tooling budgets, product costs and coordinates proper reporting within Mercedes Benz US International (MBUSI) and to Daimler AG; coordinates tooling project across multiple Finance and Controlling areas and MBUSI departments as well as conducts tooling audits at supplier locations.
Tool Controlling for new carlines as well as current running series (e.g. BR167, BR 166, X164/251 Model Years, Hybrid, selected Running Changes).
Control all Tooling Budgets (Plan vs. Actual) for P1 (Project), P2 (Facelift), P3 (Model Year), P4 (Running Changes) and P7 (Capacity Increase) for all carlines. This includes:
-Align with Model Year coordinator to have most recent plan figures on P2/P3/P4
-Align with the Cost Planning (VKP) and Purchasing (PMC) department in Germany as well as with MBUSI Supplier
Management interfaces on tooling plan figures and actively drive close-out of the appropriate budgets.
-Align with investment controlling department regarding the capitalization of all tooling.
-Align with cost accounting on the booking of invoices and tooling accruals.
-Verify tool tracking sheet cost information with the tooling purchase requisitions (Banfs) and process them accordingly.
-Perform tool audits at supplier locations to verify location and tooling condition.
Provide Month End Analysis for Tooling
-Balance of payments log with cleared invoice report
-Assess Tooling Change Accruals and add new accruals as needed
-Monthly analysis and update of Cash out Plan for future payments
-Miscellaneous analysis as required for previous tooling payments or reporting
Consolidate Tooling Invoices.
Plan and execute cross-functional consolidation of:
-Review and approval of Tool Information Sheet
-Confirmation that location of tool has been updated
-Confirmation production part approval process (PPAP) status or approved WZL SK (PMC tooling special payments)
-Verification of other items as required by the Terms and Conditions
Cost Analysis and Optimization
-Work with Cost Planning (VKP) and Purchasing (PMC) department in Germany on cost analysis and optimization including supplier visits for evaluation of processes
-Act as focal point to cover purchasing issues with the purchasing department in Germany and a variety of topics within finance and other MBUSI departments.
-Initiation of purchase requisition for payment orders
-Support of controlling of items amortized in piece price
-Support of calculation in regards of verification of cost savings potential
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Business, Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of accounting/finance experience with an additional minimum of 2 years of experience in tooling, quality, purchasing or program management within a manufacturing environment.
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
Ability to work in a cross-functional team, be a self-starter as well as a team player with the ability to lead small groups.
Good communication (verbal and written) skills, both with management and other departments.
Excellent computer skills including spreadsheets (Excel), databases (Access) as well as SAP experience.
Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and procedures with strong accounting skills
Able to handle multiple projects in a given time including during deadline periods
German knowledge in conversation and in writing.
