POSITION DESCRIPTION:  The Quality Control Technician I position supports the quality control functions of So Delicious Dairy Free.  The main duties and responsibilities of this position will require the majority of time spent working within the manufacturing facility, warehouse, lab and freezer.



This is a swing shift position, generally 2pm - 10:30pm.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct post cleaning and pre-op inspections
  • Conduct allergen test for cleaning verification for equipment and tools
  • Analyze mix samples for solid and pH
  • Conduct allergen and micro testing and swabbing for cleaning verification for equipment and tools
  • Conduct micro testing of post pasteurized mixed after HTST and in PT tanks
  • Approve mixes for lines startup
  • Ingredients and packaging verification at start up and throughout the production runs
  • Allergen testing of extruder head and finished good samples
  • Conduct microbiology of finished goods samples and plant 3 samples and R&D samples
  • Conduct hourly metal detector checks
  • Collect and evaluate retention samples
  • Calibrate equipment
  • Issue material and finished product non-conformance hold, release and destruction
  • Sample request for product evaluation
  • Assist in quality assurance data management. Database Maintenance
  • Conduct line checks and startups
  • Stocking and inventory of lab supplies
  • 5S the lab
  • Participate in FM and food safety or quality incidents investigations
  • Ensure GMP and GLP compliance
  • Documents review


  • Preferred Candidate Qualifications:


    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Bio Chemistry, or Chemistry and knowledgeable of lab practices and procedures.
  • 1 year of QA Laboratory experience


  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must adhere to strict “Good Manufacturing and Laboratory Practices” and Safety for work in a food environment. 
  • Effectively handles and communicates quality control issues with a sense of urgency and importance.
  • A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Reads, writes, speaks, interprets, and understands detailed English written and verbal instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Physical abilities: Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports and records that typically weigh less than 20 pounds. Wear personal protective equipment daily; continuously reach, push/pull; frequently twist; occasionally stoop/bend; intermittently crouch, climb, and balance; use hands for repetitive fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, and simple grasp; and talk and hear under noisy conditions. Visual acuity and taste to discern product variation.
  • Working conditions frequently includes a cool indoor food production environment with water on the floor, and occasional freezer environment, and intermittent outdoor environment. Clean environment, requiring hand washing every time you go on the floor 20+/- times a day. We have allergens such as tree nuts, soy, peanuts, cinnamon, and coconut in the work environment.
